During the dry winter months you may experience dry nasal ways. This may be due to a combination of your heated residence and using your oxygen. To help alleviate this condition you can use a bubbler on your oxygen concentrator. This adds moisture to the oxygen through the nasal cannula.
OPERATION:
The respiratory therapist will instruct you on how to connect it to your oxygen concentrator. It is important to make sure that you thread it onto the nibble adaptor straight, or this may cause problems and alarms sounding.
CLEANING
The bubbler needs to be washed in a mild detergent and warm water and rinsed will before refilling. Every two days the bubbler needs to be soaked in a 1:3 ratio of vinegar and water. This will aid in the disinfecting of the device. Keep the bubbler in the solution for one hour and rinse well before laying it out to dry in a clean area. It is very important to maintain a clean bubbler to prevent infection of your lungs.
It may be necessary to replace the nasal cannula and tubing more frequently when using a bubbler due to the moist environment.
