You have been provided with an Oxygen cylinder as part of your oxygen therapy. This portable system is for use when leaving the home or during equipment power failure.
OPERATION
The Oxygen cylinder comes with a regulator which is used to regulate the amount of oxygen being distributed from the cylinder.
To turn on the cylinder, use the key on top of the stem and turn the stem counter clockwise until the pressure gauge shows the amount of pressure inside the cylinder. Next, adjust the flow control knob to the appropriate flow rate as prescribed by your physician.
CHANGING YOUR CYLINDER
- Make sure that the cylinder is closed by turning the key all the way clockwise.
- Allow the pressure gauge to drop to zero (0)
- Turn the tightening pin counter clockwise to loosen the gauge from the neck of the cylinder.
- Remove the regulator from the empty cylinder.
- Remove the empty cylinder from the cart/bag and lay flat on the floor.
- Remove the seal from the new cylinder and place in the cart/bag.
- Place the regulator on the neck of the new cylinder.
- Insert the two small pins on the regulator into the holes on the neck of the cylinder.
- Tighten the pin back down as tight as possible with your hand by turning clockwise.
- If you hear leaking around the neck of the cylinder upon opening, you may need to tighten a bit more or change the washer around the opening
- Please call Hometown Home Health, Inc. when you need your cylinders replaced, or feel free to drop by to exchange them during regular office hours.
